Tried and true

Gin and limes have gone hand-in-hand for centuries thanks to traditions and remedies practiced by the British Navy. Here's a short list (and by no means exhaustive one) of gin and lime drinks for those who might want something other than the reliable gin and tonic. Cheers!

Gin Gimlet
2 oz gin
3/4 oz Rose's lime juice
Cucumber slice or lime wedge (or both), for garnish

Combine gin and lime juice, shake well. Strain into small cocktail glass or serve over ice in an old-fashioned glass. Garnish with cucumber slice, lime wedge, or both.

Gin Rickey
1.5 oz gin
1/4 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice
1.75 oz club soda
Lime wedge, for garnish

Combine in an ice-filled highball or rocks glass

Foghorn
2 oz gin
½ oz fresh lime juice
3-5 oz chilled ginger ale or ginger beer
Lime wedge

Pour the gin and lime juice into an ice-filled old-fashioned glass. Top with ginger ale and stir gently. Squeeze the lime wedge over the drink, and drop it in.

Southside (a variation)
2 sprigs of mint, spearmint tops
3/4 fresh-squeezed lime juice (original calls for lemon juice)
1.5 oz gin
1 oz simple syrup
1.5 oz club soda

Prepare as you would a mojito: gently muddle 1 of the mint sprigs with the lime juice in the bottom of a mixing glass. Add the gin and syrup and shake well. Pour over crushed ice in a goblet and stir until the outside of the glass frosts. Top with a splash of soda - up to 1.5 oz, to taste - and garnish with the other sprig of mint.

Bramble
4-5 fresh blackberries
1 tsp sugar
1 oz fresh lime juice
1.5 oz gin
½ oz crème de mûre (blackberry liqueur)
3-4 oz chilled club soda
Lime wedge

In the bottom of a chilled highball glass, muddle together the blackberries, sugar, and lime juice. Fill the glass with ice and add the gin and crème de mûre. Top with club soda and stir briefly. Garnish with the lime wedge.
